THE COLUMN Theatre Awards
honors excellence in the theatre arts within the Dallas/Fort Worth
metroplex and surrounding counties. This is the seventh year
in producing and mounting this glittery evening of awards, laughter,
and tears. THE COLUMN
Theatre Awards is the ONLY Awards organization in Texas to donate
all proceeds (after paying off operating costs) to BROADWAY CARES /
EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS. Since its inception, the awards gala has
raised over $6,000 for BC/EFA. Just this year THE COLUMN
Theatre Awards have joined the prestigious "Angel" campaign within
the BC/EFA organization. THE COLUMN Theatre Awards is now
listed with major benefactors and celebrities within the "Angel"
campaign. THE COLUMN Awards in fact are the ONLY Awards
organization to be listed within this luminous group.
These awards are the brainchild of John
Garcia, the editor & founder of THE COLUMN> This is a daily
e-mail entertainment column that had a grass roots beginning of only
40 close friends which has now grown to over 6,000 subscribers from
all around the country & now even international. Several
celebrities from the worlds of film, Television, and Stage are also
subscribers. There are also professionals who work both in
front or behind the curtain of several Broadway shows currently
running who are subscribers as well.
John wanted to create an evening to celebrate
and unite the ENTIRE DFW metroplex theatrical community for one
night. Plus he also wanted to raise money for charity.
In a short seven years with the amazing dedication and support from
his talented advisory board, he has achieved that.
THE COLUMN Theatre Awards will be honoring
productions within the Dallas-Fort Worth theatre community that were
produced between the 2004-2005 theater season.
Productions are eligible in either Equity and
Non-Equity categories.
For a production to be listed in the Equity
category it must have one (1) Equity contract offered and signed.
This can be either a performer or someone within the production team
of that particular production who received the equity contract. If
no equity contracts were signed, that production will fall under the
non-equity category.
Only those who are THE COLUMN subscribers (prior to December 31,
2005) are eligible to nominate and vote via the Internet.
This year plans to be an even bigger, glitzy
spectacle than last year's ! The Advisory board has some exciting,
new, and wonderful surprises in store for this year's gala!
