President Obama Greets Presidio Students
Featured in Film Receiving World Premiere at the
Rose Marine Latino Film Festival

 

Artes de la Rosa is proud to announce the World Premiere Screening of It is Rocket Science in Presidio at the 2nd Annual Rose Marine Latino Film Festival. The film will screen on Saturday Feb 25th at 7:00pm. Directed by Academy and Emmy Award winner Nigel Noble, the film is a short documentary of a Texas border town physics teacher and her students’ unprecedented success in national science and rocketry competitions.  Students featured in the film, from the Presidio Rocketry Team, were recently invited to the White House where they participated in the 2nd White House Science Fair this past Tuesday.  There, they met President Obama and invited him to the Premiere of the film documenting their journey at Rose Marine Latino Film Festival.  A copy of the film was then presented to the Commander-in-Chief.  Director Nigel Noble and Students from the team will be in attendance at the screening of the film Saturday the 25th. 

  Following the documentary, is an honorary screening of the feature film All She Can (Fort Worth debut), The 2011 Sundance Grand Jury is about a young Texas high school student taking power lifting to new heights for a scholarship that can change her life.  Lead actress Corina Calderon will be attendance and join the special Q &A Live on the Big Screen with Director Amy Wendel.

 About Director Nigel Nobel

Nigel Noble is an Academy and Emmy Award winning producer/director of films and television.  Most recently he is the winner of the highest award in television, the George Foster Peabody Award.  His work has earned him many awards as both a director and a producer, including an Oscar, a second Oscar nomination, a Christopher award, two Emmy awards, two ACE awards, five CINE Golden Eagles, two NATPE Iris Awards and in 2008 both a jury and an audience award for the same film, and three Telly’s. 

Educated in England at Clifton College , Noble began his career as Stage Manager at the ROYAL SHAKESPEARE THEATRE, 1962 to 1964, working with directors, Peter Hall, Peter Brook and Clifford Williams, among others. Noble spent the years from 1965 to 1979 as a recording engineer in both film and music, recording such musicians as THE GRATEFUL DEAD, SANTANA, HOT TUNA, JOE COCKER, REUBEN BLADES, LIONEL HAMPTON,and  BOB DYLAN.

Artes de la Rosa is proud to present the 2nd Annual THE ROSE MARINE LATINO FILM FESTIVAL.  The festival will run Friday, February 24th thru Sunday, February 26th 2012 at the Rose Marine Theater.  The Rose Marine Latino Film Festival includes full-length features, shorts, world premieres, regional debuts, awards, industry panels, and special events.   Festival passes are $40 and day passes are $15. The festival was created to preserve and honor the Latino cinematic history of the Rose Marine Theater with the mission to promote and foster upcoming filmmakers, students, local and national artists for an event that will highlight the diversity, culture and arts in Fort Worth .  Initiated and co-produced with Artes de la Rosa by Claudia Acosta and Liza Rodriguez, the Rose Marine Latino Film Festival is in collaboration with Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas, Endeavor Cinema Group, and Lone Star Film Society.
