MATT BEUTNER NAMED THEATRE ACADEMY DIRECTOR
Matt Beutner has been named Director for the Granbury Theatre Academy, a division of Granbury Theatre Company that operates the historic Granbury Opera House in downtown Granbury.
Beutner has been serving as the interim director since April, leading summer classes as well as summer camps.
The academy is not just for children and youth, as there are programs for adults as well. Classes are offered each semester for acting, voice, dance, and technical theatre. The summer camps recently led to the recent summer productions of The Lion King Jr. and a Teen Cabaret. Several students also audition and perform in mainstage productions.
“Matt has done an outstanding job leading our academy, as evidenced by the wonderful work he did on the summer productions, which were extremely successful,” commented GTC board president Micky Shearon. “We have great confidence in him to continue to lead the academy and expand on classes and other programs.”
A native of Denton, Beutner is a graduate of Oklahoma City University. He has been active at regional and community theatres and has taught private voice lessons at area schools as well as the academy. At the Opera House, he has performed in A Few Good Men, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Arsenic and Old Lace, and Guys and Dolls.
More information is available on the GTC website at www.granburytheatrecompany.org.
