I know, I know . . . . mimes . . . . run away, run away! But stay. These mimes are masters of breaking those invisible walls and doing so much more than pulling ropes and leaning on ledges.

White-faced BruNO and IOUle live in that traditional mime world but long for fame and fortune. With help from an offstage voice, they receive that illusive red button to transform them to their own heart’s desires. Through each new adventure, “friends” assist them to achieve their dreams. The piece takes a nod to the “there’s no place like home” story, and look quick for more nods to Thelma and Louise, The Matrix, and Star Wars – funny. They also break the ultimate mime rule by speaking their names or syllables of them.

Rafael Tamayo and Omar Padilla are both quite capable physical performers, easily displaying the characters’ thoughts and emotions while keeping the pace fast and entertaining.

The sound effects is a big star in this piece, so precisely accentuating the actors’ movements and greatly highlighting their work.

Prism Movement Theater and BruNO and IOUle once again uses silence, or long moments thereof, to make a loud statement; one with a lot of laughs.
