It is beginning to look, sound and feel a lot like Christmas! Especially, at the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas! In preparation for Santa Clause Coming to Town in a few weeks for Christmas, Dallas Summer Musicals is presenting BROADWAY CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND at The Music Hall at Fair Park, Dallas, Texas, from December 6-18, 2016,

This family friendly show includes an amazing cast of 24 highly talented singers and dancers from New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and London that bring the stage to life with a balanced blend of non-stop energy in the dances, outstanding singing, story-telling through movement and choreography, a rich blend of costuming, ice skating on stage (Yes! real ice skating), and fun interactions with the audience.

The cast sing, dance, twirl, act and interact with the audience with songs that include: “Let It Snow”, “Holly Jolly Christmas”, “Jingles Bells” Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer”, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”, “All I want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth”, “Sleigh Ride”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, “Frosty The Snowman”, Here Comes Santa Claus”, “Jingle Bell Rock”, “When A Child Is Born”, “Mary Did You Know”, A Child Is Born”, “The First Noel”, “ Hark The Herald Angels Sing”, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause”, “White Christmas”, and many, many more holiday favorites. The songs and choreography are presented in a wide variety of styles. Some songs are performed upbeat and energetic, others are performed much more traditionally. Some of the songs are performed playfully with a costumed theme such as “Frosty the Snowman”. Several songs include a live Santa and other costumed characters that children in the audience were entranced with. There is a section in the performance where songs are performed in a “Gospel Christmas” style. There are also variations of Broadway and Las Vegas styles of performance and costuming with songs throughout the performance. As well as patriotic songs that blend well with the performance and will have the audience want to standing and singing along.

In addition to the well-chosen and engaging singing on stage, the choreography, costuming, drops and set pieces and even incredible ice-skating are included in the performance. The variety of the choreography is always interesting and keeps the audience attention throughout the performance. The choreography is designed and performed to match the style of the songs and range from hand-jive style, waltzes, jazz, formation choreography, several terrific and mesmerizing tap numbers and includes several songs with high kicking chorus style.

Almost every number in the production has its own and unique blend of costuming that match the spirit and style of the song. Styles of costuming in the production range from playful elf designs, white winter snowflake and ice crystal with lots of sparkle, costumed characters that include an mouse, Frosty the Snowman and Santa, costumes with short lengths and a lot of sequins and glitter, Victorian time period that match our stereotype of a “Dickens” Christmas and long and elegant gowns and tuxedos.

This production even includes ice-skaters on stage in each act. At least twice during the production, while a performance is taking place in the downstage area, behind the mid stage curtain, a skating area is created. When the song on stage is finished, the singers, in character, move to the sides of the stage, the curtain is raised and the audience is treated to the experience of a couple actually ice skating on stage. It is truly amazing and something that should not be missed. The skaters are performing raises, dips, twirls and lifts while skating on an area this did not appear to be larger than 15 feet by 15 feet in dimension. It is truly something that should be seen. The lead singers interact with the audience and encourage audience sing-a-long and appropriate interactions.

As Christmas and Santa Clause is coming closer and closer to town, we hear Christmas music almost constantly and often think about what Christmas treats we want to gift to our friends, family, and even ourselves. The BROADWAY CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND, is a show that will lift spirits, with its constant energy and songs that will either bring back memories of past Christmases or create new ones. As I watched the cast on stage, it was very apparent that the cast want to share their joy and spirit of the season with the audience. After experiencing this show with a friend, family member or even by yourself, you will walk out the Music Hall at Fair Park with a smile and maybe even re living memories of Christmas as a child, or an old Christmas film, times with family... that special Christmas feeling. So, Baby, it may be cold outside, but the feeling that you will get from watching and experiencing the BROADWAY CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND will make you feel warm and in the Christmas spirit.
